Murial "Miki" Rubin
August 2011, NYSWOCP Member of the Month

Miki Rubin is a past president of NYSWOCP, former director of PPAA school at Cazenovia, teacher, and she is still painting on small porcelain pieces at her home studio in Syracuse.

I have had the great pleasure of spending a few hours painting with Miki in the last couple of years. She has been gracious and sharing, teaching me her techniques for painting lilies on pendants and pins, painting wipe out poppies, and even showing me a little trick of how to create a cute wipe out owl on a pendant.

Miki has an extraordinary talent for china painting, and she is a great supporter of the china painting organizations. She is also an generous supporter of public broadcasting and other charitable organizations. She has donated numerous pieces to auctions and sales to benefit these groups.

Miki often relates how she has made great friends and enjoys her long-lasting friendships with china painters. She is an inspiration and it is a pleasure to say "THANKS" to her continued support of NYSWOCP.

Shirley Robilotto

Shirley Robilotto
October 2010 NYSWOCP Member of the Month

Shirley is a member of Heart of NY porcelain artists, and is relatively new to china painting. She started just one year ago after attending a china painting demonstration by Heart of NY at the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City, NY. Shirley entered the critique and competition at our 2010 show and received a 3rd place ribbon for herpainting of geisha on porcelain vases. Shirley studies porcelain painting regularly with Joyce Stewart and has taken seminars with Marlene Egan, Victoria George, and Roccio Borobia.

Shirley's art background and her creative vision have influenced me and other members of Heart of NY to experiment with our porcelain painting in ways we had never done before.

Shirley is not new to the art world, she is an accomplished painter in watercolor, acrylic, and oil. Shirley has also studied the art of Byzantine Iconography using both acrylic gouache and the traditional egg tempera (which she studied in Italy).

You can see more of Shirley's artwork by visting her website, www.ShirleyRobilotto.com.
